Peace Kitty!

I've been wanting to work on ATC cards for a while now but have been way too busy to find the time for them.
So I bit the bullet and did two on the weekend.
I enjoyed working on these. It's a great way to use some of the doodles in my sketchbooks.

I will have these for sale but I don't know if they will go up on Ebay or open an Etsy shop.

-coloured pencil on Vellum.

:giggle: wonderfully done!! The neko statues always freak me out a little... not sure why but they just give me the creeps!! I really like the tail and the wings. :D

I love it, though I think the kanji is a little off... Usually the kanji worn by the Meneki neko is the neko kanji. What you have put on his tag is an incomplete mane Kanji. See here > [link] as well as here > [link] . A lot of the maneki neko I've seen, have a tag under the bell, with the neko symbol ( from my pendant [link] ) and they hold a longer, narrow koban (a coin - see the middle one here [link] ) to denote good luck and prosperity.

Love the odd eyes. You might consider adding some darker shading to the orange to make her truly tri colour for extra extra luck :)

Thanks for the lesson! (Although I knew all this from my Buddhist studies) The Kanji is only one word: Peace. That's all my cat offers. That's all ShivBaba offers his/her children (Yeah I know, mixing Eastern spiritual philosophies.) and it's what we all desire.
(Therefore, I did the Kanji like that deliberately.)

The word Peace is in the tradition mane Kanji but the Zen Meneki neko offers more than just that. If you look at a traditional mane Kanji, you'll see the root ';peace' in there.

I think I will add a second darker colour to her as well! Thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks for the Zen Buddhist philosophies link! I'll add that one to my Buddhist/Raja Yoga bookmarks.

Ah okay I understand now :) I guess I got a return lesson too, Thank you!

The mixture of peace with the goodluck cat was not making sense to my mind fully but now it does. And I like her even more now! Perhaps I will buy her from you, because, as we are both aware. I could certainly use some peace in my life. Send me an email and let me know what you're asking.

I've got little handmade tiles, of my wife's design, with that peace Kanji in my shower, as well as beauty, tranquility, and harmony.

I like your peace kitty :)
